This patented technology provides superior conformance to tumor size, shape and volume, enabling us to administer higher dose rates that can enhance treatment effectiveness while protecting critical structures. The result is more precise and advanced treatments, shorter treatment times, and minimized impact on patients' quality of life. In addition to the complex treatment devices available from this technology, Elekta provides software designed to keep up with it. Elekta is the only company with planning software that uses the highly accurate Monte Carlo dose calculation algorithm.

HexaPOD™ robotic positioning system

This computer-controlled robotic treatment couch top can be positioned in any direction or angle. This means the treatments can be delivered to patients with extreme accuracy by correcting any misalignments detected by the advanced imaging systems. This system requires very little setup and preparation for patients, allowing for highly accurate treatments in shorter times.

    

High Dose Rate mode with flattening filter beam technology

These features allow highly sophisticated treatments to be delivered three times faster than previous generations of machines.

Agility™ multi-leaf collimator

This is an advanced beam-shaping device, where the beam conforms to the patient as the machine moves around them in all directions. The machine moves at revolutionary speeds, more than twice the speed of other systems, and improves dose accuracy. This technology allows for the most advanced and accurate delivery of radiation available.

Monaco® treatment planning with Monte Carlo dose calculations

Monte Carlo dose calculations are the gold standard for calculating radiation dose, and can calculate with true accuracy even with the most advanced and difficult radiation treatment dosage for patients. Monaco is the only system currently available using the accurate Monte Carlo calculation for complex plans.

Advanced image guided radiotherapy and motion management products (XVI advanced imaging, Clarity® 4D ultrasound monitoring, Active Breathing Coordinator™ system)

These new technologies are able to verify accuracy using multiple different platforms (X-ray, cone-beam-CT and ultrasound) before treatment, and monitor the position during the delivery of the radiation dose. These tools can be especially important for unique patient cases where tumors move, or are adjacent to organs like the heart during treatment for breast cancer.

This technology is a digital control system that audits and safely orchestrates patient treatments, and allows the highest safety in delivering radiation treatments.
